Mongolia 2011: Hyundai Accent and Sonata possible leaders

July 31st, 2011 1 comment

Hyundai Accent

Yes, I know. Mongolia was the only major country not to be featured in BestSellingCars… until today! You’d think that given its geographical situation, Mongolia’s car market would be a mix of Chinese and Russian cars. Not so! Observation of the streets of Ulan Bataar through recent YouTube videos shows Hyundai has established a very solid grip on the Mongolian market, with various generations of Hyundai Accent and Sonata the most common.

Hyundai Sonata

So I will venture a – calculated – bet: the new generation Hyundai Accent and Sonata could lead the models ranking in Mongolia in 2011. Japanese brands are also appreciated there, especially Toyota. In that context, other models that should find their way towards the Mongolian Top 10 are the Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan X-Trail and possibly Nissan Qashqai and Tiida.

If you have any official car sales data for Mongolia please make sure to get in touch!
