Morocco May 2011: Dacia Logan, Duster & Renault Kangoo strong

Moroccan car sales are up a very healthy 9% over the first 5 months of 2011 at 40,919 registrations, with May at 9,032 units. The Dacia Logan looks like it will be the best-seller in the country for a 6th consecutive year, holding its ground at a very solid 14.5% share.
Moroccan consumers finally have access to the new generation Renault Kangoo, on sale along the previous generation, still available, adding up to 4,438 sales or 10.8% share year-to-date. Dacia is still the #1 brand in Morocco at 9,000 units and 22% share, with the Sandero estimated at 3.4% share and an excellent start for the Duster, selling 1,700 units over 5 months for a 4.2% share.
Ford breaks records in the country and achieves its best-ever month in May at 591 sales and 6.5% share, bringing its year-to-date figure to 2,503 units (6.1%), the #4 brand behind Dacia, Renault and Peugeot. The Ford Fiesta is the key to Ford’s success in Morocco. VW is #5 at 5.8%, ahead of Citroen, Hyundai (both at 5.3%), Kia (5.1%), Toyota (3.4%) and Fiat (3.1%).
