South Africa April 2011: Toyota Hilux, VW Polo & Vivo on top

VW Polo

New car sales in South Africa are up 8% in April at 38,566 registrations, bringing the 4 months 2011 figure to 186,284, up 19%. The Toyota Hilux keeps its crown at a shiny 7% market share, but the VW Polo Vivo is catching up at 5.8%.

The VW New Polo is back on the podium for the first time in 3 months with 1,955 sales and 5.1% share. Three models find their way back into the Top 10: the Chevrolet Aveo is #7, the locally produced BMW 3 Series is #8 and the Toyota Quantum is #10.

Very good hold for the Nissan NV200 (aka Dacia Logan Pick-up) at #9 and good progression of the Chevrolet Cruze, up 7 spots on last month at #11. The new Honda Ballade is up 17 spots at #34.
