Egypt 2007: Hyundai Verna leads, Speranza A516 in Top10

Egyptian car sales continue to grow nicely this year, up 34% at 227,818 units. After a couple of years of domination from the Chevrolet TFR (aka Isuzu D-Max), the Hyundai Verna takes the lead thanks to a fantastic 72% progression year-on-year at 20,420 sales and an imposing 9% market share.

Mitsubishi Lancer

The Chevrolet TFR is down to #2 at 7.7%, followed by the Mitsubishi Lancer at 13,349 units and 5.9% in 3rd place, its best position so far in Egypt. The Daewoo Lanos and Hyundai Matrix follow, and the Hyundai Elantra & Chevrolet Optra are both up 4 spots at #7 and #8 respectively.

Speranza A516 in Cairo, Egypt

Chery launched the brand Speranza exclusively in Egypt to sell the cars it assembles in the former Daewoo plant in Cairo, and it works! In 2007, for its first full year of sales, the Speranza A516 (aka Chery A5) climbs into the Top 10 at #9 with 6,943 sales and 3% share.

Speranza A620

The Speranza A620 (aka Chery Eastar) lands in the Top 20 at #20 with 2,363 sales and 1% and the Speranza A113 (Chery A1) is #35 with 886 units and 0.4%.
