Egypt 2005: Daewoo Lanos, Hyundai Matrix & Tofas Sahin strong
121,437 new cars found a buyer in Egypt in 2005. Below the Chevrolet TFR pickup (aka Isuzu D-Max) at 10,765 sales and 8.9% sales, the locally-produced Daewoo Lanos is #2 with 10,043 units and a solid 8.3% share. The Hyundai Matrix rounds up the podium with 8,270 sales and 6.8%.
Extremely popular as taxi, the Turkish Tofas Sahin ranks at an impressive 4th place even though the model is close to 20 years old at 7,407 units and 6.1% share, just above the much more recent Hyundai Accent (6%) and Toyota Corolla (5.8%).
Note the locally-produced Daewoo Nubira in 8th place at 4.6% and the Renault Megane at #10 with 3.7% share. The Lada 2107 ranks #17 at 1.1% (mostly taxis) and the best-selling Chinese model is the Chery A11 at #21.
