Indonesia 2005: Toyota Kijang Innova strong leader
The Indonesian new car market gains 11.7% year-on-year in 2005 to a 2nd all-time record in a row at 493.583 units according to manufacturers, 534.000 according to Gaikindo (add the Mitsubishi Colt at 35.000 sales). Toyota (+29.7%) almost triples the market growth to hit 36% share, its highest since BSCB started following Indonesia annually in 1990. Suzuki (+6.1%) drops to 17.7% and Honda (+15.6%) leapfrogs past Mitsubishi (+8.5%) and Daihatsu (+9.9%) to climb on the annual podium for the first time. Kia (+37.6%) posts the largest gain in the Top 10 with Isuzu (+11.1%) also strong but there are still no Westerners in the Top 10, Ford (-4.8%) topping the charts at #11.
The Toyota Kijang Innova (+46.1%) cements its leadership, improving its share to 18.9% including 10.159 old generation Kijang. Meanwhile the Toyota Avanza ends its first full year in its home market up one spot to #2 overall with 11.1% share, dislodging the Suzuki Carry (-17%). The Honda Jazz (+29.8%) remains at #4, the Suzuki APV (+209.9%) breaks into the Top 5, knocking the Daihatsu Xenia (+25%) to #6.
