Norway 2001: VW Passat and Ford Mondeo dominate

In a market down 6% at 91,916 registrations, the top of the sales ranking is turned upside down this year, but Volkswagen keeps the first spot, in the form of the VW Passat. Renewed in 2000, it is the best-selling car in Norway this year with 5,256 sales and 5.7% of the market (up 32% on 2000).
A direct competitor the Ford Mondeo, also renewed in 2000, takes the 2nd spot with 4,605 sales (+238%!) and 5% share. The VW Golf, leader in the last two years, drops to 3rd with 4,267 sales (-27%). The Toyota Yaris also drops 2 spots in 4th at 4,253 sales (-14%). The Toyota Avensis, stable, ranks 5th.
The other two biggest progressions in the Top 20 are the Toyota RAV4 at #8 (+134%) and the Renault Laguna at #18 (+109%). The Peugeot 307, all new for 2001, comes in at #20 with 1,392 sales.
