Italy 2000: Fiat Punto, Seicento and Lancia Y on podium

Italian consumers bought 2,426,189 new cars in 2000, a new record! The Fiat Punto holds the pole position for the 7th straight year with 272,497 sales and 11.2% market share, back above 10% after dropping to 9.5% in 1999. The Fiat Seicento is up to #2 with 102,955 sales and 4.2%, higher than the 1991 Cinquecento ever did, followed by the Lancia Y at 96,600 units and 4%.
The Fiat Panda celebrates its 20th year in market and takes the 4th position with 88,964 sales and 3.7%, down 26%, ahead of the Ford Focus up 4 spots and 33% to #5 at 86,565 sales and 3.6%. The Peugeot 206 is up 3 ranks and 30% to #7 and 79,401 units. Notice also the Lancia Lybra at #18 and the Fiat Palio at #20
