Rep of Macedonia September 2018: Citroen C3 cements YTD leadership

According to our partner CE Auto, September new car sales in the Republic of Macedonia gain 3.4% year-on-year to 456 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up 0.8% to 4.349. The Citroen C3 dominates the charts head and shoulders at 6.8% share, selling almost double the #2 (Fiat Ducato at 3.5%) and cementing its YTD leadership at 4.1% vs. 3.4% for the Kia Sportage, up 3 spots on August to #3 for the month. The Dacia Duster (#4) is back inside the Top 10 and climbs to #6 YTD, still a far cry from the pole position it held over the Full Year 2017. This month Peugeot manages to place both the 3008 (#6) and 2008 (#9) inside the Macedonian Top 10, a first for both nameplates.

Rep of Macedonia August 2018: Ford Fiesta snaps top spot

Thanks to our partnership with Eastern European data specialist CE Auto we can share with you today August data for the Republic of Macedonia. Sales edge down 2.2% year-on-year to 396 units, but the year-to-date tally remains in positive – just – at +0.5% to 3.893 sales. The Ford Fiesta leaps from #10 in July to #1 in August with 5.1% share, its second win in the past 5 months after last April. The Fiat Doblo and Opel Astra round up the podium, distancing the Skoda Octavia (+17%) and Citroen C3 (-19%) down four spots on last month to #5 but still #1 year-to-date ahead of the Kia Sportage. Notice also the Toyota Auris, Corolla and Yaris inside the August Top 10.

Rep of Macedonia July 2018: Citroen C3 takes control

The Citroen C3 is now the most popular nameplate in the Republic of Macedonia in 2018.

According to our Eastern European data specialist partner CE Auto, 536 new light vehicles found a new home in the Republic of Macedonia in July, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up 0.6% to 3.491 units. The Citroen C3 is up 8 spots on June to become the runaway leader this month at 6.5% share, earning the YTD pole position (+59%) by the same token and knocking the Kia Sportage, outside the July Top 10, down to #2. The Skoda Fabia, Peugeot 208 and VW Golf are all up four ranks on last month to end July at #2, #3 and #4 respectively. Fiat has the Doblo, Tipo and Panda inside the Top 12.

Rep of Macedonia June 2018: Dacia Duster back in charge

The Dacia Duster is back atop the Macedonian sales charts.

According to our Eastern European data specialist partner CE Auto, 595 new cars found a buyer in the Republic of Macedonia in June, lifting the year-to-date tally to 2.955. Market leader in 2016 and 2017, the Dacia Duster had endured a severe sales slump during the generation changeover, but it is now over with the low-cost SUV rallying back up 7 spots on May to snap the pole position for the first time since last September with a strong 5.4% share. The road back to annual leadership may be strenuous though, with the Duster now ranking #6 YTD with 2.7% share vs. 3.7% for the Kia Sportage, leader so far in 2018 and #2 with 4.7% in June. The Skoda Rapid leaps up to #3 to round up the podium.

The Peugeot 208 is the best-selling model in the Republic of Macedonia in May.

According to our Eastern European data specialist partner CE Auto, new car sales in the Republic of Macedonia gain 27% year-on-year in May to 512 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up 6.9% to 2.335. The Peugeot 208 posts its first podium ranking since last August, becoming this month’s most popular nameplate and earning a spot in the YTD Top 10. The Fiat Doblo (+58%) follows ahead of the VW Golf which is now only one sale below the Citroen C3 YTD, the French supermini still dominant but out of the May Top 10. The Ford Fiesta (-29%) and Kia Sportage (-17%) round up the Top 5 but both endure steep declines, while the Ford Focus, Fiat Ducato, VW Polo and Renault Captur return inside the Top 10.

Based on data shared with us by our Eastern European data specialist partner CE Auto, 476 new light vehicles found a new home in the Republic of Macedonia in April, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up 2.4% year-on-year to 1.824 units. This month the Ford Fiesta makes its first Top 10 appearance since last October, directly #1 with 5.3% share and now up to #8 YTD vs. #5 in FY2017. It distances the Kia Sportage up 5 spots on March to #2, a ranking it now holds YTD as well. Leader last month, the Opel Corsa is down to #3 but up to #5 YTD, while the Peugeot 301 is up one rank on last month to #4. The Opel Astra (#5), Dacia Duster (#7), Skoda Octavia (#8), Citroen C3 (#9) and Skoda Rapid (#10) reappear inside the Macedonian Top 10 but it’s the Citroen C3 that holds onto the YTD lead.

According to our Eastern European data specialist partner CE Auto, 543 new light vehicles found a buyer in March in the Republic of Macedonia, lifting the Q1 volume to 1.347. This month the Macedonian models ranking is showing us another facet of its very volatile self, with the entire Top 5 best-sellers absent from the March Top 10. The Opel Corsa surges to pole position with 5% share, earning a 6th spot YTD in the process, followed by the Skoda Fabia at 4.4% (and now #8 YTD), the Fiat Doblo at 3.3% (and now #9 YTD) and the Fiat Fiorino and Peugeot 301 equal #4 at 3.1% share (and equal #10 YTD). Leader in February, the Citroen C3 slips outside of the March Top 10 but retains its YTD throne for now, while the Fiat Tipo breaks into the monthly Macedonian Top 10 for the very first time.

Thanks to our partnership with Eastern European data specialist CE Auto we can share with you today February data for the Republic of Macedonia where 433 new light vehicles found a new home, leading to a 804-unit strong year-to-date tally after two months. We have a surprise in pole position: the Citroen C3 soars to 6.9% share, snapping the YTD lead at the same time. The Ford Focus (5.8%) and VW Golf (5.1%) round up the podium both in February and YTD, with the Skoda Octavia, Seat Leon and Kia Sportage in tow. Leader last year, the Dacia Duster is outside the February Top 10 and only #7 year-to-date, just as it goes through the transition between the two generations.

The Kia Sportage splendidly takes the lead this month with 5.7% share, almost double its FY2017 level which earned it a third place overall. The Citroen C3 soars to 2nd place, distancing the Dacia Duster – the best-seller in the country for the past two years. The Ford Focus and Seat Leon round up the Top 5 while the Peugeot Partner, Toyota Corolla and Skoda Rapid make rare appearances in the Top 10.

Thanks to our partnership with Eastern European data specialist CE Auto, we can share with you today annual 2017 data for the Republic of Macedonia, a market up 3.1% to 5.829 registrations. The Dacia Duster remains the best-selling nameplate in the country despite a steep 19% year-on-year drop, but this time it was a last minute win with the VW Golf holding the YTD Top spot up until end-November and ends the year down 6% to 3.6% share. The Kia Sportage gains two spots to leap onto the podium in spite of deliveries declining by 5% while the Skoda Octavia is up 8% and six rank to #4 and was the best-seller in December. The Ford Fiesta (-16%), and VW Passat (-30%) fall down the ladder while the Ford Focus, Citroen C3, Opel Corsa and Skoda Fabia break into the annual Top 10.
