Hong Kong (China) August 2026: BYD Sealion 7 faraway leader, iCaur V23 #3 and BMW iX3 in Top 10

The iCaur V23 ranks #3 in Hong Kong in August.

For the first time on BSCB and thanks to one of our readers, we can share with you detailed monthly brands and models data for the Hong Kong new car market. In August only only 2,404 units were sold, down -5.2% on the 2,536 of July. BYD (-4.7% on July) is ultra dominant at 26.3% share, distancing Tesla (+46.9%) at 8.9% and BMW (+136.1%) at 7.1%. Newcomer iCaur (-34.7%) is up to a fantastic 4th place, followed by Toyota (+14.5%) and GAC Aion (+16.3%). Honda (+41.5%), Dongfeng (+3.5%) and Lexus (+23.7%) are also in positive in the remainder of the Top 15.

Looking at the models charts, the BYD Sealion 7 (+3.3%) is the faraway best-seller with 10.5% share, with the BYD Atto 3 in tow at 6.7% (-28.3%). The iCaur V23 (-34.7%) ranks at a splendid #3 ahead of the Tesla Model Y L (+39.2%) and the BYD Atto 2 (-55.6%). The Dongfeng Vigo (+6.8%), GAC E9 (-6%), Maxus Mifa 7 (-1.3%) and Xpeng G6 (+10.9%) make it 8 Chinese models in the Top 9. The BMW iX3 (+3150%) is an instant blockbuster at #10, with the BMW iX1 (+163.6%), Tesla Model Y (+29%) and Toyota Noah (+23.1%) also lodging impressive performances vs. July.
