Mauritius H1 2026: BYD (+116.9%) up to #3 in market down -43.6%

BYD is up to #3 over H1 in Mauritius vs. #10 a year ago.

After four consecutive record years, the Mauritius new car market sinks -43.6% to just 6,661 units over the First Half of 2026. Suzuki (-55.1%) stays atop the brands charts but sees its share fall from 26.3% to 21%. Toyota (-40.8%) resists a little better and stays at #2 with an improved 11.3% share. BYD (+116.9%) is without a doubt the best performer in the ranking, blissfully ignoring the market freefall and more than doubling its sales YoY to reach #3 with 8.5% share vs. #10 and 2.2% a year ago. MG (-9.3%) also contains its loss and climbs five spots to #4. Meanwhile Kia (-69.2%) and Mazda (-55.5%) both implode. Further down, GWM (+6.8%) is the sole additional gainer in the Top 15, with BAIC (+160.6%), JMC (+45.9%), Omoda (+50%), Changan (+15.8%) and Riddara (+8.3%) also up: only Chinese brands.
