Uruguay Full Year 2025: Fiat Strada and BYD Yuan Pro top record market

The Uruguayan new light vehicle market is up a sturdy 9% year-on-year in 2025 to 69,034 sales. This is a third consecutive annual volume record, eclipsing the 63,311 units of last year. Fiat (+12.8%) topples Chevrolet (-21.9%) to easily snap the brands pole position with 13.3% share vs. 11.4% for the American brand. This is despite a surge to 16.9% share for Chevrolet in December. BYD (+94%) is once again one of the success story of the year, up three spots to #3 overall and #2 at end November. BYD was even #1 in July (12.6% share) and September (18.7%). Volkswagen (+9.9%) and Renault (+11%) both drop one spot as a result despite beating the market. Suzuki (+34%) is up one rank to #6 and Chery (+100.4%) breaks into the Top 10 at #8.
Model-wise, the Fiat Strada (+18.2%) delivers a third straight win, widening its footprint to 8.2% share. Launched in 2024, the BYD Yuan Pro lands directly into 2nd place for its first full year of sales, illustrating the brand’s progression in the country. The Chevrolet Onix (-30.4%) is in freefall at #3 ahead of the Hyundai HB20 (-17.8%) and Chevrolet Montana (-32.8%) also struggling. The BYD Seagull (+23.6%) is up one spot to #7, exchanging rankings with the Renault Oroch (+16.8%) also in excellent shape.
