New Caledonia (France) Full Year 2025: Toyota and Hilux stay on top in negative market

The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling vehicle in New Caledonia for the 5th year in a row.

The New Caledonian new car market drops a further -6.9% year-on-year in 2025 to 3,812 sales. Toyota (-34%) collapses and loses six percentage points of market share, going from 20.6% to a still dominant 14.6%. The next four carmakers all defy the negative market with solid year-on-year gains. Renault (+9.6%) and Suzuki (+14.8%) complete the podium like last year and both end up with 9.6% share. Hyundai (+22.8%) is up four spots to #4 while Ford (+8.9%) is up two to #5. Mitsubishi (+50.5%) lodges the biggest gain in the Top 10 and is up three ranks to #9. Below, Fiat (+116.1%), BAIC (+45.7%) and BYD (+45.3%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (-41.1%) almost sheds half its 2024 volume but stays in the lead for the 5th consecutive year. It is followed this time by the Suzuki Swift (+29.1%) which overtakes the Dacia Duster (-26.4%) for 2nd place. The Ford Ranger (+21.2%) passes the Suzuki Jimny (-2%) to rank #4 while the Renault Kangoo (+32.3%) surges 10 spots to #6, distancing the Kia K2700 (+3.8%), Hyundai Tucson (+21.2%) and Grand i10 (+46.9%) all in positive.
