1,524,506 new light vehicles hit Mexican roads in 2025, a small +1.3% year-on-year improvement (the 2024 total has been updated with newcomers such as Geely). Nevertheless this is the biggest annual volume in 8 years: since 2017 (1.530.624). Nissan (+7.6%) significantly outpaces the market and lift its share by one percentage point on an already dominant basis to 18%. This is the brand’s 26th consecutive year as Mexico’s favourite. In contrast both Chevrolet (-4.6%) and Volkswagen (-0.2%) fall. Toyota (+3.6%), Kia (+6.5%) and Mazda (+7.2%) all lodge solid scores and ensure the Top 6 is unchanged on last year. Note Mazda peaked at #3 and 9.3% share in November. Hyundai (+2.2%) and Ford (+2.8%) overtake a freefalling MG (-19.3%) down two spots to #9. Excellent results for Geely (+237.4%), Changan (+182.4%) and Ram (+29.6%).
The Nissan Versa (-3.3%) manages a 9th win in the past 10 years but drops to 5.9% share. This is still well above the new #2, the Chevrolet Aveo (+4.4%) overtaking the Nissan NP300 (-1%). The Kia K3 (+9.6%) remains at #4 while the Nissan March (+12.4%) is up one spot to round out the Top 5. Excellent result by the Mazda CX-30 (+21.8%) entering the monthly Top 5 in September and November, and by the Mazda2 (+21.3%) up five ranks to #7. The Nissan Kicks (+11%) also breaks into the Top 10 at #8 whereas the VW Virtus (-19.1%) sinks to #9. Another newcomer inside the Mexican Top 10 this year is the Hyundai Grand i10 (+18.4%) up five spots to #10. The Nissan Magnite is the best-selling 2025 launch at #20, peaking at #8 in August and December.
