Cyprus Full Year 2025: Kia Stonic and Sportage dominate again, Top 16 all SUVs

Data by our local partners SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT show new car sales in Cyprus down -2.8% year-on-year in 2025 to 14,633 units. Kia (-22.7%) remains the stand out brands leader with a dominant 15% share and despite a hefty YoY loss. Toyota (-10.3%) also loses share but stays at #2 with 9.8% of the market. Hyundai (-0.9%) performs better and climbs two spots to #3 whereas Volkswagen (-19.3%) and Nissan (-13.7%) sink. BMW (-0.1%) repeats at #6 with stable sales but the best performers in the Top 10 are Renault (+77.8%), Jeep (+46.3%) and Mercedes (+2.6%). Just below, Dacia (+66.7%) impresses. Launched in July, BYD is an instant success, peaking at #6 in October and December and ending the year at #18.

Model-wise, strikingly for such as small market the Top 5 is unchanged on last year. The Kia Stonic (-30.7%) threepeats at #1 with 5.1% share vs. 7.2% last year while the Kia Sportage (-29.5%) is also in deep trouble but holds onto the 2nd place. The Hyundai Tucson (-31%), Nissan Qashqai (-19.6%) and VW T-Roc (-16.4%) follow. The Nissan Juke (-3.8%) is up two ranks to #6 ahead of a surging Jeep Avenger (+147.7%). The Renault Arkana (+100.6%) is also euphoric and up 7 spots to #9 while the Hyundai Kona (+151.9%) does even better and is up 18 spots to #11. Top Top 16 is entirely composed of SUVs (Top 8 in 2024). The Kia EV3 (+6433.3%) ends its first year in market inside the Top 20. There are no BYD models in the Top 30 – yet.
