Mexico September 2025: Mazda CX-30 breaks into Top 5

First Top 5 finish for the Mazda CX-30 in Mexico.

New car sales in Mexico edge up 0.5% year-on-year in September at 117,181 units, leading to a year-to-date volume off -0.2% to 1,075,266. Nissan (+11.5%) is in fine shape YoY but at 17.8% share it is below its YTD level of 18.3%. Chevrolet (-8.3%) underperforms at #2 with 11.9% of the market while Volkswagen (-0.1%) is stable in third place. Toyota (-2.9%), Kia (+16.2%) and Mazda (-4.3%) follow and ensure the Top 6 is unchanged on last month and year-to-date. Ford (+12.6%) and Hyundai (+3.6%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10 but MG (-17.8%) and Honda (-1.5%) aren’t that lucky.  Further down, Renault (+28.3%), Changan (+250.1%), Dodge (+54.8%) and BMW (+28.4%) make themselves noticed.

Model-wise, the Nissan Versa (+7.2%) improves to 6.5% share, followed by the Chevrolet Aveo (+6.6%) and Kia K3 (+22.8%). The Nissan Pickup (-6.9%) is in trouble and falls to #4 year-to-date, passed by the K3. The Mazda CX-30 (+13.7%) breaks into the Mexican Top 5 for the first time at #5, distancing the VW Virtus (+2.5%) and Nissan March (-3.7%). The Renault Kwid (+42.7%) surges 12 spots on August to #8, the nameplate’s first Mexican Top 10 finish since June 2024. The Nissan Magnite confirms it is an instant blockbuster in Mexico by signing a third straight Top 10 finish at #9. The Kicks (+39.3%) makes it five Nissans in the Top 10.
