Brazil September 2025: VW Saveiro and Tera break records

The VW Tera is up to #6 in Brazil in September.

Stable sales in Brazil in September at -0.4% to 221,421, leading to a year-to-date volume up 3.5% to  1,807,581, the best result at this stage of the year since pre-pandemic 2019 (1,935,013).  Fiat (-4.8%) falls year-on-year but remains dominant in the brands charts with 21.3% share. Volkswagen is up a sturdy 12.9% to 18% share, one percentage point above its YTD level of 17%. Renault (-23.7%), Toyota (-18.6%) and Chevrolet (-7%) struggle but Hyundai (+29.4%) and Jeep (+8.2%) are up. The biggest YoY gain in the Top 10 is delivered by BYD at +68.2% and #8 vs. #7 last month. GWM (+78.3%), Mitsubishi (+50.2%), Caoa Chery (+32.7%) and Ford (+24.6%) also impress below.

Over in the models charts, the Fiat Strada (-2.6%) easily reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date, bypassing the VW Polo (-13.8%). The Fiat Argo (+12.6%) stays in third place above the Hyundai HB20 (+26.3%) and VW Saveiro (+75.1%). At #5, this is the Saveiro’s best ever ranking in Brazil, eclipsing its previous best of #8 hit in November 2014, March and April 2025. Another record breaker is the new VW Tera up 13 ranks on last month to crack the Top 10 for the first time at a fantastic 6th place with 3.3% share. The Toyota Corolla Cross (+73.2%) surges year-on-year but drops three spots on a record #4 reached last month. The Nissan Kicks (+9.1%) delivers its best ranking since January at #9. Other great performers include the Fiat Fastback (+40.3%) and Jeep Compass (+39.2%).
