The Dacia Logan is the best-selling vehicle in Romania in August.
New car sales in Romania shoot up 51.7% year-on-year in August to 15,125 units, yet due to a very difficult H1 the year-to-date tally remains in negative territory at -9.6% to 96,308. The Top 5 manufacturers for the month all outpace the market. Dacia is up 74.9% to 27.5% share vs. 27.9% so far this year, Toyota is up 76.4% to 10.9% and Hyundai is up a more discreet 53.1% to 10.4% share vs. 6.4% YTD. Renault (+237.1%) is the most dynamic at #4 followed by Skoda (+52.9%). Suzuki (+113.6%) and Ford (+82.3%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, KG Mobility (+415.9%) and Citroen (+293.8%) stand out.
Model-wise, the Dacia Logan (+68.3%) repeats at #1 and vastly outclasses the Duster (+50.6%) at 10.6% share vs. 7.9%. As a result the YTD gap between the Duster and the Logan thaws to 258 units vs. 666 last month. The Dacia Sandero (+109.3%) remains at its usual #3 spot ahead of the Toyota Corolla (+63.9%) and Renault Clio (+449%) up to 3.6% share vs. 2.5% so far this year. Below the Hyundai Kona (+518.4%) at 3.6% share also vs. just 1.4% year-to-date, the new Dacia Bigster repeats at #7 but smashes its volume and share records at 531 and 3.5% vs. 2.5% last month. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+267.6%), Ford Puma (+128.7%) and Skoda Octavia (+97.6%) shine further down.
