Russia July 2025: Market down -11.4%, Chery, Belgee, Jetour among best performers
The Jetour Dashing breaks into the Russian Top 10 for the first time in July.
The Russian new car market slows down -11.4% year-on-year in July to 120,649 units, leading to a year-to-date tally off -23.9% or more than 200,000 units to 651,029. Local behemoth Lada (-20.7%) reduces its footprint to 23.4% share vs. 28.2% so far this year. Chery (-5.1%) limits its fall and finally overtakes Haval (-21.3%) to climb to a record 2nd place. Its market share is also at an all-time high 11.2%, also reached in December 2023 and August 2024. Geely (-36%) is in total freefall but reclaims the 4th spot off Changan (-31.1%). The next four carmakers all score market-defying positive results and break their volume and share records. Belarusian government/Geely joint venture Belgee is up 75.2% to #6, Jetour up 24.6% to #7, Solaris, a local carmaker using the former Hyundai plant in St Petersburg to sell rebadged Hyundai and Kia models, is up 68.7% to #8 and GAC up 60.6% to a best ever #9.
Over in the models charts, the Lada Granta (-28.3%), Vesta (-31.6%) and Haval Jolion (-33%) hold onto the top three spots but fall markedly faster than the market. In contrast the new Chery Tiggo 4 is up a further two ranks on last month to #4, with the Belgee X50 (+16.5%), a rebadged Geely Coolray, repeating at a record 5th place. The new Chery Tiggo 7L and Jetour Dashing (+130.5%) both break into the Top 10 for the first time.
