Romania July 2025: Market back up 25.3%, Dacia Bigster up to #7

The Dacia Bigster continues to climb up its home charts.

After imploding -32.7% in May and -50.3% in June, the Romanian new car market catches up on lost time as it rallies back up 25.3% YoY in July to 16,362. This leads to a YTD tally off -15.9% to 81,183. Dacia (+41.2%) excels and climbs to 31.2% share vs. 28% so far this year. In fact the entire podium beats the market with Toyota (+49.2%) and Skoda (+97.6%) also in great shape. Hyundai (+4.8%) and Volkswagen (+16.2%) are more discreet as they round out the Top 5. Suzuki (+148.9%) scores the biggest gain in the Top 10, with Ford (+59.1%) and Renault (+28.4%) also shining. Citroen (+338.5%), Jeep (+109.3%) and Cupra (+100%) stand out below.

Model-wise, the Dacia Logan (+33.4%) signs its first monthly win since January and reaches its highest market share since last October at 10.5%. Last year’s scenario was similar: the Logan was outsold by the Duster over H1 before coming back and snatching the Full Year pole position. The Duster (+30.1%) however now has the full support of the new generation and may not give up that easily BUT the Bigster may cannibalise some sales. The Sandero (+70.1%) impresses at 6.8% share vs. 5.4% so far this year. The Toyota Corolla (+46.3%) is back to a record 4th place, a ranking it also hit in July, August 2024 and April 2025, it overtakes the Skoda Octavia (+161.7%) at #5. The new Dacia Bigster for its part continues to progress, gaining three ranks on June to a new high mark of #7. The Suzuki Vitara (+259%), Toyota Yaris Cross (+227.6%), Hyundai Kona (+170.2%) and Ford Puma (+162.8%) all post surreal gains below.
