Kazakhstan July 2025: Chevrolet back in charge, Cobalt distant leader

The Chevrolet Cobalt is the favourite of Kazakh buyers in July.

20,165 new vehicles found a buyer in Kazakhstan in July, a solid 10.5% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date tally fares even better at +23.3% to 125,034. This month Chevrolet (+70.4%) overtakes Hyundai (-14.6%) for the first time since November to snap the brands pole position. It however remains a distant 2nd year-to-date with over 10,000 less than Hyundai. Kia (+11.9%) and Jetour (+26.7%) shine but Chery (-17%) disappoint and rounds out the Top 5. Changan (+35.5%) is the only additional Top 10 member to beat the market at #9 with 4.5% share. Haval (+10.2%) and Toyota (+4.1%) are also up but Geely (-28.5%) and JAC (-16.7%) both struggle. Newcomer BYD is up five spots on June to #11.

Model-wise, the Chevrolet Cobalt (+135.7%) shoots up to 16.9% share, its highest since last December (17.6%). It cements its lead year-to-date with volumes up 77.8%. The Hyundai Tucson (-40.5%), #1 a year ago, completely implodes year-on-year but still manages an excellent 2nd place with 6% share. The Kia Sportage (+14.9%) and Hyundai Elantra (+5.6%) ensure the Top 4 is identical to June and YTD. The new Hyundai Mufasa confirms it is an instant blockbuster in Kazakhstan and points its grille at #5 overall, like YTD. The JAC S3 (+5400%!) surges to #6 vs. #11 year-to-date and #37 over the Full Year 2024. The Haval M6 (+13.8%) follows at #7 above the Chevrolet Onix (-18.7%) and Hyundai Santa Fe (-14%) both in a rut.
