Portugal June 2025: Peugeot 2008 distant leader, Citroen C3 Aircross breaks ranking record
The Citroen C3 Aircross is up to a record 7th place in June.
It’s a very sturdy month for new car sales in Portugal in June: up 14.8% year-on-year to 23,184 units. This leads the H1 2025 tally up 6.5% to 124,026. Peugeot (+28.8%) easily holds onto the brands top spot but at 9.7% share, it is below the 10.6% it commands this year. Mercedes (+26.1%) advances to #2 both for the month and YTD, overtaking Dacia (+27.9%). Renault (+33.4%) is also in great shape at #4, as are Opel (+64.1%) and Toyota (+40.8%) in the remainder of the Top 10. BMW (+10.2%), Volkswagen (+9.4%) and Tesla (+7.3%) are more discreet albeit still in positive, whereas Citroen (-20.8%) endures the only YoY loss in the Top 10. BYD (+131%), MG (+121.5%) and Ford (+59.2%) stand out below.
Over in the models charts, the Peugeot 2008 (+105%) more than doubles its year-ago volume to dominate the charts head and shoulders with 4.4% share, cementing its YTD leadership. The Renault Clio (+54.3%) is up three spots on last month to #2 while the Tesla Model 3 (-21.2%) surges back up to #3 but falls heavily year-on-year. The Dacia Duster (+374.4%) is down one rank on last month to #4 just as the Model Y (+80.7%) makes it two Teslas in the Top 5 for the first time since December 2023. The Citroen C3 Aircross (+191.1%) gains 21 ranks on May to land at #7, the nameplate’s best ever ranking in Portugal, eclipsing its previous best of #9 reached in April 2022 and June 2023.
