Turkiye May 2025: Fiat (+22.9%) back in charge, BYD, Tesla shoot up

Fiat holds 10.1% of the Turkish market in May vs. 8.6% at home in Italy

New light vehicle sales in Turkiye advance 7.4% year-on-year in May to 107,730 units. This is the second best May volume below the 111,356 of May 2023. The year-to-date tally however is at record pace, up 3.7% to 489,366, eclipsing its previous best of 471,743 after five months established just last year. Fiat (+22.9%) bounces back to its first monthly win since last November with a generous 10.1% share vs. 8.6% so far this year. Renault (-16.8%), Volkswagen (-14.4%) and Ford (-9.7%) all disappoint below whereas Peugeot (+33.5%) shines at #5. Toyota (+68.3%), Opel (+60%) and Citroen (+41.9%) are also very strong but it’s BYD (+2380.8%) that delivers the best year-on-year performance in the Top 10 again at #10 with 4.7% share. Notice also Tesla up 15350% YoY to #20.

Over in the passenger car models charts, the Renault Clio (-5.7%) holds onto the top spot with a dominant 5.2% share, followed by the Fiat Egea Sedan (+28.4%) up one rank on last month to #2. The local EV Togg T10X (-11.2%) is down year-on-year but up one spot on April to a splendid #3. The BYD Seal U scores another fantastic result at #4 overall, distancing a surging VW Taigo (+27%) up 25 ranks to #5. Below a struggling Renault Megane Sedan (-13%), the Fiat Egea Cross (+63.8%) catches up on lost time at #7. Note that adding the Egea Sedan and Cross makes the Egea nameplate the best-selling vehicle in the country by far with 7.1% share for the month and 6.9% YTD. The Citroen C4 X (+210%) is back inside the Top 10 for the 2nd time in the past 3 months, confirming Turkiye is the only country in the world where it is successful.
