Vietnam April 2025: VinFast monopolises podium for 2nd time in past 3 months

The VinFast VF 5 is the most popular vehicle at home in April.

According to local manufacturers association VAMA and Hyundai, the Vietnamese new vehicle market is up 19% year-on-year in April to 34,055. The year-to-date tally is up 21.5% to 117,768. This month once again we have access to exclusive figures for local carmaker VinFast, leading to an April volume at 43,643 and a YTD tally at 162,459.

VinFast holds 22% of the market this month, vs. 27.5% so far this year. It distances Toyota (+24.2%) and Hyundai (+4.5%) in a podium unchanged on March. Thaco-Kia (+5.3%) lurks 20 units below and holds onto the YTD third spot above Hyundai. Ford (+30.9%), Mazda (+27.3%) and Honda (+18.9%) all impress unlike Suzuki (-55.3%), Mitsubishi (-18.7%) and Isuzu (-6.7%).

Model-wise, VinFast is back to monopolising the podium just as the VF 5 repeats at #1 and the VF 3 at #2. Notre the VF 3 remains #1 YTD. The VF 6 is back up four spots to #3 vs. #4 so far this year. The Mazda CX-5 (+77%) surges ahead to #4 ahead of the Ford Ranger (+8.2%) and Kia Frontier both down one rank. Below, the Honda City (+136.3%), Ford Territory (+110.5%), Hyundai Creta (+109.3%) and Ford Everest (+42.3%) stand out.
