Russia April 2025: Market dives -25.5%, Solaris breaks records
Solaris KRX aka Kia Rio X
Sales of new light vehicles in Russia dive -25.5% year-on-year in April to 102,107 units. This way, the year-to-date tally is down a similar -25.4% to 349,041. Lada (-32.6%) falls markedly faster than its home market to 27.9% share vs. 30.3% so far this year. Haval (-11.4%) and Chery (-15.6%) resist well in context and close out the podium as usual. In contrast Geely (-41.9%) and Changan (-45.2%) are both hit hard. Belgee (+29.9%) and Jetour (+1.1%) manage positive results, a great feat in such a depressed market. But the performance of the month goes to Russian brand Solaris, up 131% to record volumes and share at #10. Solaris sells rebadged Hyundai Motor models after acquiring the former Hyundai plant in St Petersburg in January 2024.
Over in the models charts, the Lada Granta (-33.2%) and Vesta (-46.5%) both suffer but stay firmly on top with 12.7% and 7% share respectively. The Haval Jolion (+9.7%) is the best of the rest as usual, while the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max (-5.7%), Lada Niva Travel (-38%) and Niva Legend (-34.7%) reproduce the March and YTD Top 6. The Belgee X50 reappears inside the Top 10 at #8, the nameplate’s best ever ranking in Russia, also hit in May 2024.
