Finland April 2025: Toyota Yaris Cross takes control, Skoda Elroq up to #7

The Skoda Elroq lands inside the Finnish Top 10.

First positive month of 2025 for new car sales in Finland at +2% to 6,133 units. The year-to-date tally is now off -6.6% to 22,583. Toyota (-25.4%) salvages its pole position in the brands ranking despite a hefty year-on-year fall. In contrast Volkswagen (+57.6%) surges to 14% share, 29 sales below Toyota for the month. Volvo (-24.1%) pays the price of a particularly high year-ago volume but still manages 10% share, well above its YTD level of 9.2%. Skoda (+29.8%), Kia (+24.3%) and Audi (+22.5%) all impress below. Peugeot (+333.3%), Renault (+221.1%), Citroen (+169.8%) and Polestar (+87.8%) all post surreal gains. Tesla is down -44.5%.

Model-wise, the Toyota Yaris Cross (-4.1%) takes the lead both for the month and year-to-date, distancing the Toyota Yaris (-12.3%) up seven spots on last month to #2. The VW ID.4 (+15.1%) ascends to #3, the nameplate’s second ever incursion inside the Finnish podium after March 2023 (#3). The VW ID.7 (+302.3%) is up 4-fold year-on-year and lifts to a record 4th place. Leader over the Full Year 2024, the Toyota Corolla (-56.5%) collapses to #5 and ranks at a paltry #8 for the year so far. The Skoda Elroq makes its very first appearance inside the Top 20, directly at #7.
