Canada April 2025: Honda (+53.2%) helps push market up 10.2%
Honda CR-V sales are up 60.1% year-on-year in April
Local consultancy DesRosiers Automotive has the Canadian new light vehicle market up a sturdy 10.2% year-on-year in April to 186,000 units, in a possible pre-tariff rush. This is the best April volume since 2018 (192,000). The SAAR stands at 1.90 million vs. 1.68 million a year ago in April 2024. The year-to-date result is up 9.2% to 617,000. All OEMs bar Toyota Motor (-1.7%) manage a positive scorecard, with Honda Canada (+52%) faring best and Hyundai-Kia (+15.9%) also strong.
Brand-wise, Toyota (-5.6%) drops but Honda (+53.2%), Acura (+41.5%), Subaru (+40.3%), Mazda (+40.2%), Lexus (+28%) and Kia (+27.9%) all stun. Looking at models with available April volumes, the Honda CR-V (+60.1%), Subaru Crosstrek (+53.5%), Forester (+102.6%), Kia Sportage (+45.3%) and Hyundai Elantra (+76.1%) are notable gainers.
