Austria April 2025: Cupra breaks all records, BMW X1 #1

Cupra is the 5th best-selling brand in Austria in April.

24,855 new cars hit Austrian roads in April, a splendid 16.5% year-on-year lift. The year-to-date volume is now up 7.4% to 90,872. Volkswagen (+6.3%) dominates once again with 14.5% of the market, distancing Skoda (+13.4%) at 10.5%. BMW (+29%) and Audi (+42.1%) both post very satisfying gains to ensure the Top 4 is unchanged on last month and year-to-date. Cupra (+191.9%) shoots up to break all its records: ranking (#5), volume (1,325) and share (5.3%). Hyundai (+27.4%) is the only additional Top 10 member to beat the market just as Seat (-9.4%), Mercedes (-5.7%) and Dacia (-1.7%) struggle.

Over in the models charts, the BMW X1 (+57.1%) delivers its second ever Austrian win after last July. 49% of the nameplate’s sales for the month are the iX1 EV version. The Skoda Octavia (-14.4%) suffers but holds onto the YTD top spot. The Toyota Yaris/Cross (+22.4%) soars 13 spots on March to #3 while last year’s and last month’s leader the VW Golf (-35.5%) skids to #4. The Dacia Duster (+45.1%) continues to benefit from the new generation and rounds out the Top 5. The new Cupra Terramar hits a record 8th place while the Skoda Elroq breaks into the Top 20 for the first time at #12.
