Indonesia March 2025: BYD breaks share record, Denza D9 inside Top 10

The Denza D9 is the 10th best-selling vehicle in Indonesia in March.

Indonesian new vehicle wholesales skid -5.1% year-on-year in March to 70,892 units, a disappointing score given March 2024 was already off -26.1% on the year prior. Q1 volumes are down -4.6% to 205,160. Retail sales sink -6.7% to 76,582 and -8.8% year-to-date to 210,483.

In the wholesales brands ranking, Toyota (+6.3%) defies the negative environment to 31.7% share, whereas Daihatsu (-21.1%) and Honda (-40.4%) both implode. Mitsubishi (-6.2%) matches the market while Suzuki (-33.4%) is in a bad way. The winner of the month is BYD, up 6 spots on February to a record #6, also hit last October and November, and an all time high 4.5% share. Chery (+127.8%) and Hyundai (+33.8%) also impress. Denza is up to a best ever #12. Geely lands at #18. Over in the retail charts, Toyota (-6.2%) holds 32% of the market above Daihatsu (-24.4%) and Honda (-23.7%). BYD is also up to #6, Denza is up to #11 and Geely lands at #23.

Model-wise, the Toyota Kijang Innova (+15.4%) stays on top above the Toyota Avanza (+33.6%) up five ranks on last month to #2. The Daihatsu Sigra (-24.1%), Honda Brio (-21%) and Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (-18.1%) all struggle. The Denza D9 cracks the Top 10 for the first time at #10, up 13 spots on February. Notice also the BYD M6 up 6 ranks to #13, the BYD Sealion 7 up 39 to #14 and the Aion Hyptec up 45 to #25.
