The Fiat Argo is at its best in Brazil in 3.5 years
New light vehicle sales in Brazil edge up 4.3% year-on-year in March to 183,502 units, leading to a Q1 tally up 6.8% to 516,282. Fiat (+7%) is up to 21.2% share ahead of Volkswagen (-1.2%), Chevrolet (-6.1%) and Toyota (-1.1%) all failing to capitalise on the positive market. Nissan (-10%) and Jeep (-9.3%) both disappoint. Further down the charts, notice Ford (+56.1%), Citroen (+28.2%), Mitsubishi (+19.9%) and GWM (+16.2%) all shining.
Model-wise, the Fiat Strada (+2.7%) stays on top with 5.6% of the market while the Fiat Argo (+20.4%) is up two spots on last month to #2, its highest Brazilian ranking since October 2021 when it finished #1. The VW Polo (-32%), leader a year ago, is hit hard and falls to #3. It ranks #2 over Q1. Strong results for the VW T-Cross (+19.2%), Hyundai HB20 (+15.8%) and Toyota Corolla Cross (+75.4%) the latter repeating at its ranking record at #6. Further down the top 10, the Honda HR-V (+39.4%), VW Saveiro (+23.6%) and Renault Kwid (+24.1%) impress. The BYD Song Pro is the best-selling recent launch at #25.
