Vietnam February 2025: VinFast monopolises podium, VF 3 best-seller

The VinFast VF 3 is the best-selling vehicle in Vietnam in February.

According to VAMA and Hyundai, new vehicle sales in Vietnam rally back up 80.2% in February to 24,628 units on devastated year-ago volumes when the market was off -52% on the year prior. The year-to-date tally is now up 27.7% to 46,595. This month and retroactively for January we have access to exclusive partial data for VinFast. With the local brand, the market adds up to 37,128 in February and 67,395 year-to-date. And the addition of VinFast completely reshuffles the charts with the carmaker holding a mammoth 33.7% share for the month and 30.9% year-to-date. Far, far away Thaco Kia (+80.5%) is at 10.7%, followed by Toyota (+149.5%) at 8.4% and Hyundai (+48.6%) at 8.1%. Mitsubishi (+119.1%) and Isuzu (+81.3%) also shine.

VinFast is so dominant at home that it monopolises the February podium. The VF 3 is the best-seller for the 2nd month running with 14% share, followed by the VF 5 at 8.1% and the VF 6 at 5.4%. The VF 7 ranks at #11 with 1.5% of the market. Like in January, the Ford Ranger (+26.3%) is the best of the rest ahead of the Mitsubishi Xpander (+64.3%) and Mazda CX-5 (+53.8%). Recent launch the Mitsubishi Xforce falls five spots on January to #15.
