Ecuador February 2025: Kia Soluto and Chevy Groove beat D-Max in slowest market in 7 years
The Kia Soluto repeats at #1 in Ecuador
It’s another weak month for new vehicle sales in Ecuador, off -8.5% year-on-year to 8,337 units. The year-to-date tally is now down -10.2% to 16,577 sales. This is the weakest start of the year since 2017 (11,888). As it was also the case last September, Kia (-5.6%) topples Chevrolet (-23.4%) for the title of most popular carmaker in the country. As a reminder Chevrolet celebrated 30 years at the annual top spot last year. Hyundai (+16.8%) defies the negative context but and ranks #3 ahead of Toyota (-24.2%) and Chery (-4%). GWM (+61.5%) however sports the biggest improvement in the Top 10, with Hino (+35.5%) also very strong. Below, BYD (+103%), Sinotruk (+67.4%) and Dongfeng (+62.8%) stand out.
Over in the models ranking, the Kia Soluto brilliantly repeats at #1, selling double any other model in the country. The Chevrolet Groove advances to 2nd place while the traditional market leader, the Chevrolet D-Max, is relegated to #3 with just 3.3% share vs. 4.9% so far this year. The Kia Sonet stays at #4 while the GWM Poer is up one spot on last month to #5. The GWM Wingle reenters the Top 10 at #9.
