Czechia February 2025: Skoda Kamiq, Kodiaq impress in market off -3%

Skoda Kamiq sales are up 55.2% in February.

New car sales in Czechia are down again in February at -3% year-on-year to 17,773 units. This leads to a year-to-date tally off -4.1% t o 37,120. Skoda (-3.8%) matches its home market but sees its share thaw to 33.5% vs. 35.1% so far this year. Hyundai (-20.4%) hurts but remains in 2nd place above a surging Volkswagen (+25.2%). Toyota (-31.5%) is in freefall at #4, with Kia (+7.4%) solid and rounding out the Top 5. Below Dacia (+9%) the next three brands post fantastic double-digit gains: Ford (+60.7%) is the most dynamic ahead of Renault (+52.8%) and Mercedes (+32.9%). These manufacturers also lodge double-digit upticks year-to-date.

Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (-27.1%) remains frankly in the lead despite a harsh year-on-year fall. The Skoda Kamiq (+55.2%) posts a formidable lift, the largest in the Top 13, and advances to #2 both for the month and year-to-date. The Skoda Karoq (-9.9%) is up three spots on last month to #3 but recedes year-on-year. It is followed by the Skoda Kodiaq (+37.7%) in great shape but down two ranks on January to #4. The Fabia (-10.3%) completes a Top 5 entirely composed of Skodas. As usual the Hyundai i30 (-27.8%) is the best of the rest, this time ranking at #6. The Skoda Scala (-22.4%), Hyundai Tucson (-20.5%) and Skoda Superb (-10.98%) all suffer unlike the Kia Ceed (+17.4%) at #10. Excellent score by the Skoda Enyaq (+140.5%) yet still holding a poor 24th place. Launched last month, the Skoda Elroq is already down 21 spots to #44, confirming that Czech buyers are not too keen on EVs, even coming from their home brand.
