Turkiye January 2025: BYD cracks Top 10, places Seal U at #5

The BYD Seal U is up to 5th place overall in Turkiye.

68,654 new light vehicles found a buyer in Turkiye in January, a harsh -13.9% year-on-year drop on a record January 2024 (79,701). This month’s volume is however the 2nd highest January in history. Renault (-15.8%) remains the most popular carmaker with 12.3% share vs. 10.8% over the Full Year 2024. Ford (-1.7%) resists well in 2nd place at 9% of the market while Fiat (-48.7%) implodes to 8.8%. Volkswagen (-18.1%) also falls fast while Toyota (-8.9%) does a little better. Opel (+50.7%), Citroen (+6.2%) and Hyundai (+2.3%) defy the odds with positive result but once again it’s BYD (+1679.4%) that posts the most impressive run, breaking into the Top 10 for the very first time at #10.

The Renault Ciio (+9%) repeats at #1 in the models charts ahead of the Renault Megane Sedan (-40%) and Fiat Egea Sedan (-47.9%) both freefalling. The Toyota Corolla (-1.4%) stays at #4 while the new BYD Seal U storms into a red hot 5th place overall with 3.1% share. The Hyundai i20 (+7.8%) and Togg T10X (-3.4%) follow. Outstanding results also by the Toyota C-HR (+125.1%) up 17 spots on December to #8 and the Hyundai Bayon (+26.9%) up two to #9. The Honda HR-V (+301%), Opel Corsa (+170.2%) and Kia Sportage (+127.5%) also excel below. Finally, notice the Jaecoo J7 inside the Top 40 at #38.
