Puerto Rico (USA) Full Year 2024: Toyota monopolises podium, RAV4 repeats at #1

New light vehicle sales in Puerto Rico edge down -5% year-on-year in 2024 to 121,996 units. Although still strong, this is the lowest annual volume since 2020. Toyota (-1.4%) tightens its grip on the market, advancing to 25.7% share. Hyundai (-8.2%) follows but drops to 16.4% share vs. 17% last year. Kia (+8.7%) delivers the only year-on-year gain among the 9 best-selling manufacturers and sees its share grow from 10.1% to 11.6%. Ford Motor (-5.3%) follows the market at #4 while Mitsubishi (-11.4%) ensures the Top 5 manufacturers are unchanged on 2023. Stellantis sinks -25.5%. Volkswagen (+50.7%) posts the largest uptick among mainstream brands, with Land Rover (+23.1%), Porsche (+17.3%) and Mini (+10.4%) also making themselves noticed.

Over in the models charts, Toyota monopolises the podium for the first time since 2021. The RAV4 (+3.1%) repeats at #1, improving its market share from 7.6% to 8.3%. The Corolla (-9.3%) continues to skid at 6.4% share whereas the Corolla Cross (+43.1%) is up two spots to #3. The Kia Seltos (+47.4%) is equally impressive and the best of the rest at #4 (+2). The Hyundai Venue (-35.2%) is hit hard, distancing a very strong Ford F-Series (+40.2%). The Hyundai Kona (+61.4%) delivers the biggest jump in the Top 40 and slices its 2023 ranking in two to #9.
