Luxembourg Full Year 2024: BMW catches up on Volkswagen, Tesla Model 3 lurches to #1

New car sales in Luxembourg drop -5.1% year-on-year in 2024 to 46,645 units. Volkswagen (+1.9%) retains the brands top spot with an improved 12.7% share. However BMW (+10.5%) continues to get closer with 11.6% share vs. 10% a year ago and topped the charts in January and June. Mercedes (-7.4%) and Audi (-13%) underperform while Skoda (+3.3%) ensures the Top 5 is unchanged on 2023. Tesla (-2.8%) stays at #8 just as Volvo (+20.3%) and Kia (+8.7%) both defy the negative market to close out the Top 10 in fantastic fashion.

Over in the models charts, the Tesla Model 3 surges 85% year-on-year to go from outside the 2023 Top 10 directly into pole position. It replaces the Model Y (-37.2%) down to #4 for the year. The VW Golf (-18.1%) stays in 2nd place while the BMW X1 (+37%) soars to #3. The Audi A3 (-12%) rounds out the Top 5 with the VW Tiguan (+14.5%) and BMW 3 Series (+11.8%) also in great shape
