Kazakhstan Full Year 2024: Hyundai Tucson catches up on Chevrolet Cobalt in record market

It’s another record year for Kazakh new vehicle sales in 2024: passing the 200,000 annual volume barrier for the first time at 201,504 units (+1.3%). The top 3 manufacturers all lose ground. Hyundai (-6.4%) dramatically expands its lead over Chevrolet (-33%) while Kia (-10.5%) remains at #3. Chery (+21.7%) also stays put at #4 while JAC (+36.6%) and Haval (+45.3%) both climb one spot on last year to #5 and #6 respectively, overtaking Toyota (+2%). Jetour (+141.9%) posts a fantastic gain to land at #8, with Changan (+39.8%) and Geely (+126.5%) also very strong and making it 6 Chinese brands in the Top 10. All in all, Chinese manufacturers shoot up 46.8% year-on-year in 2024 to 37.5% share vs. 25.9% over the Full Year 2023.

Over in the models charts, the Chevrolet Cobalt (-12.8%) lodges a 4th consecutive win despite a significant drop. The Cobalt accounts for 86% of Chevrolet sales in Kazakhstan this year as the previously strong-selling Nexia got discontinued. The Hyundai Tucson (+55.4%) remains in third place but shoots up to 11.1% share vs. 7.3% last year. The Kia Sportage (-15.9%) completes an unchanged podium but struggles. Market-beating performances below for the Haval M6 (+116.9%), Chery Tiggo 2 (+44.4%) and Hyundai Elantra (+9.1%). The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max (+7449.2%) ends its first full year of sales at #7.
