Greece January 2025: Corsa and Astra push Opel up to #2 in weak market (-16.4%)

The Opel Astra is inside the Greek Top 10 in January.

10,659 new cars hit Greek roads in January, a stark -16.4% year-on-year fall. Toyota (-4%) easily remains in control of the brands ranking with 17.5% share, while Opel (+19.3%) rallies back up a stunning 18 spots on December to land in 2nd place overall for the month with 10.3% share. This is compared with 4.7% over the Full Year 2024. Peugeot (-24.9%) is back up to #3 but struggles year-on-year just as Hyundai (-4.1%) resists at #4. Citroen (-52%) is in complete freefall at #5. MG (+10.8%) breaks all its records at #8, 461 sales and 4.3% share, smashing its previous best of #13, 416 and 3.3% hit exactly one year ago in January 2024. BMW (+6.2%) is also in positive in the remainder of the Top 10.

Model-wise, the Opel Corsa (+26%) scores its first monthly win since May 2023 with a commanding 6.2% share. It ranked #55 in December. The Peugeot 2008 (-5.9%) takes the 2nd spot at 6% share vs. 3.6% over the Full Year 2024 when it ranked #3. Leader last month and over the FY2024, the Toyota Yaris Cross (+115.7%) has to contend with the third position in January but surges year-on-year. Leaders a year ago, the Citroen C3 (-46.8%) and Toyota Yaris (-46.9%) collapse and round out the Top 5. Below, notice the Opel Astra (+2023.1%), Hyundai i20 (+56.8%), BMW X1 (+45.6%) and Toyota C-HR (+11.4%) all posting brilliant upticks.
