Denmark January 2025: Toyota bZ4X secures first win

The Toyota bZ4X is the best-selling vehicle in Denmark in January.

The Danish new car market rallies back up 22.4% year-on-year on a weak year-ago result to 10,834 sales. Volkswagen shoots up 305.8% to 18.8% share vs. 11.6% over the Full Year 2024, whereas Toyota (-3.5%) is down year-on-year but still holds 11.4% of the market vs. 7.7% over FY2024. Mercedes (+145.1%), Hyundai (+48.1%) and to a lesser extent Skoda (+25.9%) also beat the market below. Kia (+232.3%) reaches 5% share vs. 2.7% over FY2024 while Cupra (+345.7%) simply charges to a record #8 and 4.8% share. Renault (+89.1%) and BMW (+73.9%) also impress further down. Tesla is down -41.4% to #11.

Over in the models ranking, the Toyota bZ4X (+296%) storms into pole position with 6.4% share vs. 1% over the Full Year 2024. Its previous best ranking was #10 in May 2024. This is the first time the bZ4X is #1 in Denmark and the second time anywhere in the world after finishing first in Norway last October. The VW ID.4 (+819.3%) and ID.3 (+1715%) complete the podium with surreal year-on-year gains. The Skoda Enyaq (+80.7%) and the new Cupra Tavascan, up 35 spots to a world record #5, follow just as the freefalling Tesla Model Y (-41.5%) ensures the Top 6 is entirely composed of BEVs. The VW ID.Buzz (+1147.4%) breaks into the Top 10 at #8 and the new Kia EV3 repeats at #11.
