Excellent year for the Polish new car market at +14.1% to 529,522 sales. Fleets account for 67.7% of total sales at 358,650 while private sales hold 32.3% at 170,872. Polish customers are not fans of EV with a tiny 3% share at 15,842 sales vs. 84.1% for petrol (445.155) and 12.9% for diesel (68,513). It’s unclear whether HEVs are included in the petrol and diesel figures.
Toyota (+12.3%) can’t quite keep up with the market growth and sees its share thaw from 19.3% to a still very dominant 19%. Skoda (+14.6%) is unchanged at 11.1% while Volkswagen (+10.2%) overtakes Kia (-8.8%) to #3 despite losing share. Mercedes (+34%) and BMW (+14.9%) beat the market whereas Hyundai (+13.1%), Renault (+12.9%), Audi (+9.5%) and Dacia (+8.9%) are more measured. Lexus (+37.6%) advances to a record #12, hitting an all-time high #9 in July. MG broke into the monthly Top 15 for the first time in November.
Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (+7.5%) posts a 4th consecutive annual win but sees its market share drop to 5.5%. It ranked #1 11 months out of 12 this year and reached 8.6% share in November. The Skoda Octavia (+19.6%) remains in 2nd place and led in May, while the Toyota Yaris Cross (+15.1%) is up one spot on last year to round out the podium. In fact Toyota places four models in the Top 5 with the C-HR up 34.3% to #4 thanks to the new generation and the Yaris up just 4% to #5. The Toyota RAV4 (+23.1%) outpaces the market despite a drab end of year, and so do the Hyundai Tucson (+21.6%) and VW T-Roc (+19.4%).
