New car sales in Poland improve 13.1% year-on-year in 2023 to 464,145 units. Toyota (+23.4%) tightens its grip over the brands charts with an improved – and record – 19.3% share. It distances Skoda (+22.4%) also in great shape at 11.1% of the market, up almost one percentage point on 2022. In contrast Kia (+7%), Volkswagen (+10.5%) and Hyundai (+0.2%) are weaker but camp on their 2022 positions to ensure the Top 5 brands are unchanged on last year. Audi (+34.7%) surges three spots on a year ago to #6, overtaking BMW (-2.4%), Mercedes (-0.7%) and Dacia (-13.9%). Renault (+28.3%) enters the Top 10 at #10. Below, Mazda (+52.4%) shines at #12 and Lexus breaks into the Top 15 for the first time at #13, also cracking the monthly Top 10 for the first time in November. Although not inside the year-end Top 15, Cupra has impressed this year, peaking at #10 in August.

Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (+25.7%) lodges a third consecutive (and ever) annual win, bettering its market share to 5.8% The Skoda Octavia (+45.1%) rallies back up three spots on last year to #2, knocking the Toyota Yaris (+7.9%) to #3. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+48.3%) manages the largest gain in the Top 12 and is up five ranks to #4, as we predicted last year. It topped the monthly charts twice this year, in January and March. The Kia Sportage (+11.4%) scores a stable share but drops two spots to #5. Below, the Hyundai Tucson (+16.3%) is up one to #6 and the Toyota C-HR (+32.6%) up three to #7. The next five carmakers see their sales drop year-on-year, with the Toyota RAV4 (-20.9%) and Dacia Duster (-17%) the hardest hit. The Cupra Formentor (+151.6%) surges 29 spots to #13 and peaked at #9 in July. The Toyota Corolla Cross is the most successful new entrant in the Top 50, landing directly at #16 and peaking at #4 in January.
