Morocco Full Year 2024: Dacia Sandero reclaims leadership in near record market

Very strong year for the new light vehicle market in Morocco with sales up 9.2% to 176,401. This is only 956 sales below the all-time record of 177,357 reached back in 2018. The volume is split between 157,139 passenger cars (+8.2%) and 19,262 light commercials (+18.8%).

In the passenger car brands ranking, Dacia (+16.3%) improves its share to 25% and celebrates 15 straight years at #1, whereas sister brand Renault (+5.1%) drops to 15.1%. Hyundai (-14.3%) and Peugeot (-12.5%) both struggle mightily but camp on their 2023 ranking at #3 and #4 respectively. Citroen (+28.9%), Volkswagen (+18.8%), Fiat (+13.6%) and Opel (+10.2%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Renault (+19.2%) dominates the LCV brands charts with 24.1% share above Ford (+31.8%) and Fiat (+15.4%).

Model-wise, the Dacia Sandero (+27.6%) is back at #1 for the first time since 2021 and for the second time ever. It distances the Dacia Logan (+37.4%) also up one spot on last year to #2. #1 in 2023, the Renault Express (-26.5%) falls to #3 ahead of the Renault Clio (+42.7%) and Dacia Duster (+14.9%). The Peugeot 208 (-16.3%) freefalls to #6. The VW Tiguan (+137.6%) is up 14 ranks to crack the Top 10 at #9, with the Opel Corsa (+13.7%) and Hyundai Tucson (+10%) also beating the market in the remainder of the Top 10.
