Renault for its part only managed to lead the way in October and November. Kia (+54%) surges to the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10, reaching a record 12.1% share and scoring its first ever monthly wins in June, August and December. In contrast Chevrolet (-17.8%) is in complete freefall at #4, followed by Mazda (+2.2%). Hyundai (+39%), Nissan (+25.4%) and Volkswagen (+22%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10. Note BYD spent the last three months of the year breaking records inside the Top 10.
Over in the models charts, the Mazda CX-30 (+36.1%) reclaims the top spot it also held in 2021. However it only ranked #1 in June and August and is rewarded for its regularity near the top. The fight for #1 was close as the Toyota Corolla Cross (+29.6%) lurks 308 units below and ranked #1 from February to April, in July and September. Leader last year, the Renault Duster (-5.2%) retrogrades to third place ahead of the most improved performer of the year: the Kia K3, launched in December 2023, ends its first full year of sales at a fantastic 4th place and even ranked #1 from October to December. The Kia Picanto (+3.4%) is up one spot to round out the Top 5 and was #1 in January. Notice also the BYD Yuan Up at #7 in December.
