The Austrian new car market gains 6.1% year-on-year in 2024 to 253,789 units. Volkswagen (+7.1%) is the clear leader once again at 14.2% share, distancing Skoda (+7.8%), BMW (+6%) and Audi (+0.03%) like in 2023. Seat (+3%) leapfrogs past Mercedes (+0.5%) and Hyundai (-8.8%) despite the latter spectacularly topping the charts in December. Peugeot (+64.3%) soars 7 spots to #10, with Toyota (+13.4%) and Dacia (+12.5%) also solid. BYD (+285.4%) ends its first full year of sales at #22 with 1.6% share and almost 4,000 units. Mitsubishi (+74.2%), MG (+61.3%) and Suzuki (+42.8%) also stand out.

In 2019, the Skoda Octavia ended 42 straight years of domination by the VW Golf. This year the Golf returns to its former glory, singing its first win in five years with sales up 61.2% to 3.4% share. The Skoda Octavia (+14.5%) and Tesla Model Y (-9.4%) are both knocked down one spot to #2 and #3 respectively. The BMW X1 (+19.9%) is up one rank to #4 and scored its first monthly win in July while the Seat Ibiza (+58.6%) shoots up 7 spots to round out the Top 5. The Skoda Fabia (+38.3%) and Dacia Duster (+32.7%) also impress. One of the surprises of the year is the fantastic scores of the BYD Seal, cracking the annual Top 20 at #18 and peaking at #8 in October and November.
