Germany November 2024: Toyota Yaris/Cross breaks all records

The Toyota Yaris/Cross is up to a record 4th place in Germany in November.

244,544 new cars hit German roads in November, a slight (-0.5%) decline year-on-year. We remain -18.2% below the pre-pandemic levels of November 2019 (299,127). Year-to-date, the market is off -0.4% to 2,592,610, -22% below the of 3,323,878 units after 11 months in 2019. The Top 4 carmakers all gain ground year-on-year. Volkswagen is up 0.7% to 19.5% share, Mercedes up 5.8% to 10.6%, BMW up 2.2% to 9.2% and Skoda up 16.5% to 7.5%. In contrast Audi (-19.2%) and Opel (-7.5%) both struggle. Like last month, Toyota (+104.5%) and Peugeot (+78.5%) post splendid scores. Below, Cupra (+29.5%), Citroen (+16.9%) and Porsche (+16.8%) stand out. Tesla falls -55.1% and is off -43.6% year-to-date. We welcome Chinese fare Leapmotor at #43.

Model-wise, the podium returns to its YTD order with the VW Golf (+18.5%) in the lead above the T-Roc (+42.8%) and Tiguan (+6.1%). The Toyota Yaris/Cross (+110.5%) surges 7 spots on last month to land at #4, a new ranking record for the nameplate, eclipsing the #8 it reached in January 2023. This is only the 2nd time in history that the Yaris cracks the German Top 10. It also breaks its volume and share records. The VW Passat (+6.2%) is up three ranks on October to round out the Top 5 ahead of a soaring Skoda Octavia (+40.9%). The BMW 5 Series (+93.7%) is also in outstanding shape at #8 with the Opel Astra (+13%) and BMW X1 (+1.2%) in the remainder of the Top 10.
