Romania October 2024: Skoda (+27.5%), Hyundai (+37.9%) stand out

Skoda Kodiaq sales are up 45.2% in Romania.

The Romanian new car market edges up 1.4% year-on-year to 11,552 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 4.1% to 127,062. Local behemoth Dacia (-5.8%) goes against the positive market and sees its share fall to 25.7% vs. 29.2% so far this year. Skoda (+27.5%) surges ahead to 2nd place overall with 9.6% share vs. 6.8% year-to-date. Toyota (+6.6%) is also strong but not as much as Hyundai (+37.9%), yet the latter drops two ranks on last month to #4. Kia (+32.5%), Mercedes (+8.8%) and Ford (+7.1%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10. Newcomer MG equals its ranking record at #14, also hit last July.

Over in the models charts, the Dacia Logan (+33.5%) soars to confirm it is back to the favourite vehicle at home with a strong 11% share. The Dacia Duster (+7.4%) can only muster 6.3% of the market vs. 9.6% so far this year while the Dacia Sandero (-11.3%) rounds out the podium as usual but with the only year-on-year loss in the Top 13. In contrast the next 10 models (!) all beat the market. The VW Tiguan (+216.4%) is the most dynamic ahead of the Renault Megane (+108.8%) and Skoda Octavia (+93.8%). The Toyota RAV4 (+55.9%), Ford Kuga (+45.7%), Skoda Kodiaq (+45.2%), Kia Sportage (+38.7%), Hyundai Tucson (+31.3%), Toyota Corolla (+24.8%) and Dacia Jogger (+5.8%) also impress.
