Portugal October 2024: Peugeot (+59.4%) places 208 and 2008 on top

The Peugeot 208 is the best-selling vehicle in Portugal in October.

15,291 new cars found a buyer in Portugal in October, a solid 10.3% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date volume is now up 3.5% to 173,133. Peugeot surges 59.4% to tighten up its grip on the brands charts even further at 13% share vs. 10.3% year-to-date. BMW (-0.3%) is stable and gains two spots on last month to #2 and 7.9% share, ending the month just three units above Mercedes (+4.4%). Renault (-6%) and Dacia (-15.7%) follow but disappoint. Volvo (+73.6%), Seat (+60.5%), Volkswagen (+56.4%) and Toyota (+32.4%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, BYD (+413.1%) ranks at #17 with 2% share.

Peugeot signs a 1-2 this month with the 208 (+70.9%) and 2008 (+51.4%) topping the charts. The 208 is however stuck at #5 year-to-date while the 2008 is at #2. The Renault Clio (-0.2%) is stable and jumps three spots on September to #3, distancing a struggling Dacia Sandero (-32%). The Peugeot 308 (+120.3%) shoots up 12 ranks on last month to #5 and the Seat Leon (+167%) is up 15 to #6. Excellent showings also by the Dacia Duster (+67.5%) and VW T-Roc (+246.3%).

  1. I have always thought that Peugeot is one of the best competitors to the German cars Audi, Bmw and Mercedes.
    Even Enzo Ferrari appreciated Peugeot in the 60s and 70s and drove them himself, the 404 and 504.

  2. Hi Bryan, I think the combination of Fiat and PSA was logical. Fiat was already suffering in Europe after the separation of CNH. At the same time PSA was in great shape. It was good for Fiat to stay in Europe thanks to PSA and it was good for PSA to look at North America and improve its position in South America.
    Without STLA, Fiat might not exist anymore or the logo would be on Renault or Seat models. Now the new 600 and Grande Panda are trying for some identity.

    Suzuki’s results are terrible. 22 pieces. With excellent quality, the model palette should be a brand at the level of Nissan. Great potential for business in Portugal to sell this brand.
