USA August 2024: Mazda (+36.7%), Honda (+28.2%) highlight positive market
Mazda sales are up 36.7% year-on-year in August.
OEM estimates have the U.S. new light vehicle market up a solid 6% year-on-year to 1.42 million units. This leads a year-to-date tally of 10.5 million units, up 1.5% over the same period in 2023. Light truck sales are up 8.9% to 1,115,000 units whereas passenger cars are off -5.1% to 266,000 units. Toyota Motor is the worst performing group at +1.9%, while American Honda (+25%), Ford Motor (+13.4%) and Hyundai-Kia (+12.7%) all outrun the market. Brand-wise, Ford (+11.8%) outsells Toyota (-1.3%) again, with Honda (+28.2%) and Hyundai (+21.9%) surging. Mazda (+36.7%), Lexus (+24.8%) and Subaru (+11.8%) also shine.
Looking at models with available monthly data, the Ford F-Series (+11.7%) is solid as is the Honda CR-V (+24.3%) overtaking its archenemy the Toyota RAV4 (-11.9%) like it does in Canada also. The Toyota Camry (+50.8%), Honda Civic (+32.9%) and Hyundai Tucson (+28.5%) stand out further down, with the Ford Explorer (+97.1%), Subaru Crosstrek (+46.5%), Honda Pilot (+39.7%), HR-V (+37.8%) and Toyota Tundra (+32%) also impressive.

I noticed Camry’s explosive growth. Also, this model is more than 10,000 Euro cheaper in the US than in Bulgaria.
