Germany private sales August 2024: VW T-Roc, Fiat Ducato and Dacia Sandero on top

The Dacia Sandero is the third best-selling vehicle with private buyers in August.

Private buyers bought 68,865 new cars in August, a -18% year-on-year fall. This represents a 34.9% Private Sales Ratio (PSR) vs. 30.7% a year ago in August 2023. Year-to-date, private sales are up 1.9% to 619,848 or 32.5% PSR vs. 31.8% over the same period last year. The VW T-Roc is the runaway leader as it was last month with a strong 51.6% PSR. In fact the podium is unchanged on July with the Fiat Ducato (83.8% PSR) and Dacia Sandero (83.9% PSR) at #2 and #3 respectively. The Tesla Model Y (65.5%) climbs up 9 spots on last month to #4 but ranks #5 year-to-date vs. #1 over the Full Year 2023. The Mini (45%) is up to #6 and the VW Polo (31.3%) also shoot up. The Dacia Duster (81.4%), Cupra Born (69.9%) and Ford Puma (66.8%) also attract private buyers. Notice the VW Golf (22.5%) and Opel Astra (9.6%) with mediocre PSRs, the latter ranking #56 vs. #3 in the overall market.
