Romania July 2024: Dacia Logan #1, Toyota Corolla at record #4
The Toyota Corolla hits a record 4th place in July.
13,057 new cars found a Romanian buyer in July, a -4.2% year-on-year deceleration. So far this year, the total volume amounts to 96,563 units, up 10.6% over the same period in 2023. Local behemoth Dacia (-16%) suffers this month and sees its share fall to 27.7% vs. 30.7% over the first 7 months of the year. Toyota (+7%) stays in 2nd place at 9.1% share while Hyundai (+40.2%) gains two spots on June to land on the third step of the podium with 8.3% share vs. 6.1% so far this year. Volkswagen (-18.3%), Renault (-19.5%) and most strikingly Skoda (-41.3%) all skid below. In contrast Mercedes (+72.5%), Kia (+48.1%) and BMW (+47%) are all in outstanding shape in the remainder of the Top 10. Volvo (+108.4%), Mazda (+66.5%) and Peugeot (+62.4%) also shine further down. Model-wise, the Dacia Logan (-4.2%) repeats at #1 with 9.9% share but stays 2nd year-to-date below the Dacia Duster (+24.5%), #2 for the month. The Dacia Sandero (-13.6%) remains at #3 ahead of a surging Toyota Corolla (+65.7%) at #4, its highest ever ranking in Romania, also hit last April. The Dacia Jogger (+1.3%) is back up to #5, distancing the Hyundai Tucson (+75.6%), Renault Clio (+156.6%), Toyota RAV4 (+25.4%) and Kia Sportage (+59.4%) all in excellent shape. The Peugeot 2008 (+351.2%) delivers the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 20, lurching up 47 spots on June to #11.
